TOURISM PLACES
IN BALIEM VALLEY

There are many stories of Wamena, my friends. In this post I will start by telling you about tourism in Wamena. One thing to be proud of by Wamena people including myself are all over the place of tourism in Wamena is still very natural. yourist attractions that include lakes, rivers, caves, waterfalls, mountains, beautiful canyons, and many others. The most famous is the mummy.

In this city there is no artificial tourist spot are like waterboom in Dufan or more games in the big cities. This brings a positive and a negative outlook. positive, Jayawijaya district will remain a focus for developing tourism sites to remain beautiful and natural. Other than that of nature in Wamena not be reduced.
Negative,  if constructed artificial tourist places, the nature will be reduced to the construction of Wamena.

The Blue Lake

Dani tribe area has some beautiful lakes. One of the most less visited lake is “Blue Lake” or friend called “Telaga Biru”. Dani people believes that, their ancestors came out from this lake and spread to the east called Yali, to West called Lanny, to South called Nduga and themselves.

One of the historic attractions in the city of Wamena who are still sacred and guarded well by the citizens / object that is the history of human origins in Wamena Baliem Valley. Maima blue lake in the village, is a historical cultural attractions that are believed to suit the growing myth that maima blue lake has a history of the birth of the mystery of human origins in Wamena Baliem Valley Jayawijaya to the central mountains even to Nabire-Paniai.

Uniqueness:

Its uniqueness is that the water is always blue-green to green are sourced from a spring at a depth of about seven meters below the water surface and just below a mountain, and has always been an attraction itself for tourists.

According to the myth that is believed up to now, the origin of the first man to come out of the lake does not have eyes and ears were sitting and playing a bow an arrow suddenly saw a light skinned up with studs all over her body nakmarugi called naruekul or who have knowledge of how to grow crops, he also knows the rules of marriage (WITA-waya) and guidelines of good living. He (a somewhat light-skinned) were killed and buried in the leaves, but suddenly the food out of his bulbs, seeds banana trees, taro plants (Bentoel) and farm animals such as pigs. Then finally under his bones everywhere as a seed food. Therefore, to this day people still adhere to this belief to always keep a piece of bone called kaneke are always stored in a custom honai or also called pilamo.Head of object fields and attractions, culture and tourism department Jayawijaya, which also comes from a blue lake district where located asolokobal, Alphaeus Wetipo justify these beliefs and until now the government through related agencies also maintain and preserve the location of the blue lake maima as one of the attractions for Jayawijaya. Written  and Publish, CPNS of Culture and Tourism District. Jayawijaya

The Dani people live in the middle of  the large mysterious Baliem  Valley. The Dani tribe called themselves as Ahamua people. Long time ago until today, the Dani people bartering business  among them or with other tribes in the highland areas. Now Pig barter is still  found among them and they still keep their traditions upright until today. For instance you can still find the huts shape, penis gourds for that wearing by the men and Sali/Yokal for women.  Additionally, the Dani tribe still keeps the folklore, folk songs, and Stone Axes, traditional balsam or Cassowary bones as a gun that was used to kill their enemies  before.  Stone knives are still used in the most remote areas of the Baliem Valley even thought it’s kept in the huts.

There are many other great tourist place. I will tell it in the next post. ^ ___ ^
